How project costing works
Create a project with a budget. When saving an expense, choose that project. CostLuma updates actual spend, remaining budget, and a receipt-supported transaction list. Project expense types: materials, labour, subcontractors and other. Set a budget for each cost type, then allocate receipts to the project. For receipts shared by more than one project, record each allocated amount separately.

Back up your data
Export a JSON backup periodically. It includes transaction and project records plus any receipt photos saved locally. Importing replaces your current CostLuma data.
Help improve CostLuma · Beta feedback
Send feedback about receipt scanning, dates, sync, projects, or usability. Only the details you type will be included; no expense records or receipt images are automatically attached.
Feedback uses your email app (or copy and paste); no new database table or external tracking service is introduced.
Privacy and limitations
PDFs are limited to 2 MB and may substantially increase sync storage. Only paid/owed expenses should be recorded here; quotations are not supported as commitments in this release. This prototype keeps a local browser copy and supports account-based record-level sync when configured. Keep JSON backups; conflicts require reconciliation. Clearing website data may delete your records. Receipt recognition requires internet connectivity and loads the OCR library from a third-party CDN when requested; avoid using OCR on sensitive receipts unless you accept that third-party dependency. Images processed with browser OCR stay in the browser with this implementation, but software assets download from external servers. No bank feeds, VAT return preparation, or accounting posting are included. The app does not guarantee correct receipt recognition; always review extracted values.
